Feel the power of Icelandic nature as you explore the geysers, waterfalls, and tectonic rifts of the Golden Circle. We'll complete the trip by riding a snowmobile across the frozen surface of the Langjökull glacier. A must-do day trip from Reykjavík!
Golden Circle & Snowmobiling on Langjökull Glacier
We'll pick you up from your hotel or the designated meeting point in Reykjavík and head into the Icelandic interior. Ready for a day where glacial landscapes and geothermal power take center stage? Let's start this day trip to the Golden Circle and snowmobile adventure on the Langjökull glacier!
Our first stop is Thingvellir National Park, a site rich in history and geological significance. Here, you can walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates while discovering the site of the Althingi, the world's oldest parliament.
Next, we'll venture into the Geysir geothermal area. Although the famous geyser that gave its name to all others on the planet is currently dormant, you'll witness the frequent eruptions of Strokkur, which shoots powerful jets of boiling water and steam over 65 ft (20 m) into the air every few minutes.
We'll continue toward the spectacular Gullfoss waterfall, known as the "Golden Falls." We'll watch the waters of the Hvítá River plunge in two stages into a deep canyon, creating a thunderous roar and an unforgettable landscape. Don't forget to take a picture!
After admiring the gems of the Golden Circle, we'll give you time to have lunch on your own. Then, we'll leave the main roads behind, boarding an off-road vehicle to cross the area's most rugged terrain. We'll ascend the slopes of the Langjökull glacier, Iceland's second-largest.
Once at the polar base, you'll be geared up with thermal suits, helmets, and gloves before setting off on an exciting snowmobile ride across the Langjökull glacier. For approximately 1 hour, you'll speed across the vast expanse of white, experiencing the freedom and adrenaline of riding through a practically pristine landscape.
After the snowmobile tour, we'll drive back to Reykjavík, dropping you off at the original starting point after a total duration of about 10 hours.
Activity Requirements
To drive the snowmobile, you must show your standard driver's license for cars (Type B in Europe).
